Mike's Fall Hen - Maitland River Flyfishing
A great pic and story from our Flyfishing Pro-Staff Mike Verhoef:
"The "fall hen" came on a beautiful fall day in late October on the scenic Maitland River along Ontario's west coast. Water conditions were crystal clear and lower then average for the time of year and fresh fish were really starting to enter the system. After fishing one of my favorite runs for over two hours I decided to switch my presentation to a 4lb tippet and one of my hand tied small "evil weevil" patterns....on my 3rd cast and half way down the drift my fly line took a sudden stop, tightened and the fight was on....15 mins later I landed that beautiful fall silver bullet and after a quick picture I released her to continue her ritual spawning journey."
Mike is also the owner and primary guide of www.flyfitters.ca Watch for Mike in upcoming episodes of Canadian Outfitter Television.
