Angling - North West Territories

Another succesful angling adventure with Outdoor Productions Canada Pro-Staffer James Lattimer near Yellowknife in the great NWT. Here's the details from James:

"Mark (pictured above), had just arrived via helicopter to my camp on Great Bear lake around five pm - asking how the fishing was, I advised him to grab his rod and tackle and we would worry about unpacking his gear later. After fifteen minutes on the water he fought this beauty into the boat. We had a great time fishing for a few more hours, catching many more of this caliber - settling into camp for some home cooked eats. Later that night at the fire Mark thanked me for getting him on the water so quickly!"

James is the owner and primary guide of Akita Outdoor Adventures who operates exclusive (yet affordable), guided adventures in the NWT. Keep checking back for more of James's angling and hunting adventures on Canadian Outfitter Television and in this Blog!

Mike's Fall Hen - Maitland River Flyfishing

A great pic and story from our Flyfishing Pro-Staff Mike Verhoef:

"The "fall hen" came on a beautiful fall day in late October on the scenic Maitland River along Ontario's west coast. Water conditions were crystal clear and lower then average for the time of year and fresh fish were really starting to enter the system. After fishing one of my favorite runs for over two hours I decided to switch my presentation to a 4lb tippet and one of my hand tied small "evil weevil" patterns....on my 3rd cast and half way down the drift my fly line took a sudden stop, tightened and the fight was on....15 mins later I landed that beautiful fall silver bullet and after a quick picture I released her to continue her ritual spawning journey."

The Deer Jaw

Above is a deer jaw with some of it's teeth intact - discovered just off shore of our lake. The demise is anyones guess; drowning by falling through the ice during the spring thaw, or part of the leftover carcass from a wolf attack.

Amazing things you'll come across either in the field or on the water.
