From 247 birds released between 1984 to 1987 - mainly from New York stocks; the population is estimated to well over 80,000 birds in Ontario providing sustainable, recreational hunting opportunities and increased economic benefits. Many turkeys (like the one above), are calling the outskirts of Ottawa, the Valley and surrounding areas home.
